Maintaining workplace safety during the Winter months is all about communication
Remind staff about making sure that they have adequate ventilation and appropriate temperature settings for their workplace; ask them to please stay home if they don’t feel well, and encourage them to keep up with the regular cleaning and hand sanitising that we’ve all got so used to over the last couple of years.
A few text reminders to back up emails and memos can prove highly effective at getting the message in front of people.
Stress, anxiety and depression can often be worse in the Winter months, so also promote well-being initiatives. If you have a counsellor or use an Employee Assistance Programme spread the word to all employees. Again, think about using text to reach all staff, particularly those who work outside or remotely from the office whom may not check emails.
